What is Tracker?

Tracker is a correspondence imaging system with some workflow capabilities.

Images are scanned at client/server workstations and the metadata is stored in a SQL server database.

The images and annotations are stored in an image repository. There are two versions of the application,

Client (scanning and administration) and Web (viewing).

Client is used by:

1) The assistant's of the Chancellor's cabinet to handle Chancellor's correspondence, route documents to Vice Chancellors, and direct reports for response.

2) The staff in SPO and EFA to handle research contracts in Sponsored Projects Office, and route to Extramural Funds Accounting for setup in BFS.

Web client allows:

1) Chancellor's Office to route documents to Deans, Acad Dept Heads, and Admin Directors

2) SPO to route contract awards to principal investigators

The client server application runs on WinXX platform.

The web client will support any browser/workstation platform.

The servers are run by Central Computing Services, CCS, located at Data Center, 2195 Hearst Hall.

Each user department gets their own SQL Server database.

Image repository is shared by units.

Computer Operations and Information Services is the sponsor of the system and provides consulting, setup, training, and support.

COIS does some of the programming along with IST and a vendor.

We use 5 or 6 different software products with license fees that we pay.
